State Officer Election Packet  *Note: Associate members are invited to run to represent us as State Associate Vice President.
National Officer Election Packet  *Note: Students will run to represent Texas as a National Candidate and secure State Advisor approval. Additional paperwork and requirements will be required after students are elected at SLC.

February 2, 2022 - Officer Packets are due
February 5-13, 2022 - Interviews and Tests will be administered
February 15, 2022 - Candidates notified if they advance to section 2
February 25, 2022 - Speeches are due for approval
March 3, 2022 - Candidate Speeches and Campaign Rally at SLC.

 

Designers Wanted: T-Shirt and Pin Design Contest
You could be the next graphic designer to be featured as the Texas State Leadership Conference T-Shirt design winner or have your design chosen to be used as one of the coveted Texas trading pins at the National Leadership Conference. Showcase your graphic design talents and creativity while you build your portfolio by submitting your best designs. Submission deadline is December 6.

Texas Intern Program
We look forward to welcoming students to join our Texas Intern Program again this year at our State Leadership Conference. If you would like to volunteer to serve during the State Leadership Conference, you can apply to assist. Sign up during SLC for your assignments.

Torch Awards Program

Looking for a way to track your community service and leadership activities in high school? Using the Torch Awards program, you can document your activities and service and be recognized for your contributions to your community through BPA Torch Awards. Submit your activities to be approved by your advisor. Deadline for the Statesman Torch Award is February 10. Deadline for the Ambassador Torch Award is April 1. Submit early! Access your Torch Resume by going online and logging in to members.bpa.org

 

Texas BPA Scholarships

There are 26 Texas BPA scholarships. The applicant with the highest score of all the entries will receive the "Mildred Woerndel Scholarship" worth $2,500.00 1 - Mildred Woerndel - $2,500.00 Scholarship
1 - Vickie Thomas - $2,000.00 Scholarship
2 - $1,500.00 Scholarships
7 - $1,000.00 CTAT Scholarships
10 - $750.00 Scholarships

SPECIAL MENTION

The above titled scholarships are named after two former teachers and pillars in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) community. Due to their dedication and contributions to the success of Texas BPA, these scholarships are named in their honor.  

Mildred Woerndel shared a love of teaching and for Business Professionals of America that spanned across the state and national levels. She taught at Seguin High School for 43 years, where she was a Business Professionals of America chapter advisor. She also served as the area advisor for her region and served on the Texas State BPA Board of Directors as the Secondary Advisory Committee Chair and the Area 3 Advisor representative. She also served on the National Business Professionals of America Board of Trustees. Ms. Woerndel passed away on January 20, 2016. She was a BPA legend and mentored many students and advisors over the years. Her passion was for youth to have opportunities through BPA and we are proud to offer this scholarship in her honor.

 

 

 

 

 

Vickie Thomas has been recognized with the BPA Lifetime Dedication Award. She has positively affected thousands of students and advisor not only within her home state of Texas, but across the country by committing herself to building and growing many programs, services and events. She has participated in many of the organization's milestones, including the evolution of the organizations from the Office Education Association (OEA) into what is now Business Professionals of America (BPA). She worked in Houston ISD, served as the State Advisor for Texas for ten years and retired as the Assistant Director of Education at the National Center for Business Professionals of America. Vicki Thomas exemplifies BPA leadership and integrity.

2. Applicants must be a graduating senior planning to continue his/her education
3. Applicants must have participated in a BPA competition (Regional, State or National)

100 Total Possible Points

The top 29 scores based on the above guidelines will be notified for a video submission. The video submission will be answers to predetermined questions selected by Scholarship Committee. This video submission will be an additional 100 points of the total score, and scholarship monies will be awarded to the top 26 applicants. Not all students interviewed will be awarded scholarship monies.

Video Submission Process
Video Submissions will take place during the month of February 2022.
The top 29 chosen will be notified for a video submission of predetermined questions selected by the Scholarship Committee. Recipients will dress for success and answer set questions by the Scholarship Committee. Video Submission score will be added to application process score

Notification
The top 26 will qualify for the scholarship awards listed above and notified at the Awards Ceremony at the BPA State Leadership Conference. A certificate will be issued at this time in lieu of the actual check.

Receipt of Scholarship
Recipients must follow the directions below to receive the scholarship:
• 2022 Scholarship required documentation must be post-marked by January 14, 2023 to receive scholarship.
• Provide an official registration from the post-secondary school. The receipt must provide recipients complete name, address, and student ID number.
• An on-line generated registration confirmation printout will not be allowed.
• A check will be issued and sent via certified mail by the treasurer when all requirements are met.
