BPA Cares Program

BPA is about giving back and making a difference. The BPA Cares Program offers members the opportunity to showcase the activities and service that they complete within their own communities. Together, we can do more.


Service Learning Awards

The purpose of the Service Learning Awards Program is to encourage individuals and chapters to be involved in their community through service learning.

Special Recognition Awards

The purpose of the Special Recognition Awards Program is to encourage individuals and chapters to support and promote their organizations.

• BPA Merit Scholar (this event is offered as an Open Event at the National Leadership Conference) 2017 Merit Scholar Fact Sheet
• Chapter Activities Award of Excellence
• Member Recruiter of the Year Award
• Membership Explosion Award
• Social Media Award
• The Professional Cup

Applications are not required for the Merit Scholar, The Professional Cup or Membership Explosion Award. These awards are given directly through National BPA.


Scholarship Opportunities

Last year Texas BPA awarded 16 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $500 each.

• 1 - Mildred Woerndel - $2,500.00 scholarship
• 1 - Vickie Thomas - $2,000.00 scholarship
• 1 - $1,500.00 scholarship
• 4 - $1,000.00 scholarship
• 6 - $750.00 scholarships
• 3 - $500.00 scholarships





Mildred Woerndel

Ms. Woerndel taught at Seguin High School for 43 years and has served on the Board of Directors of Business Professionals of America - Texas Association, served as a regional advisor, as well as a school chapter advisor. She also served on the Business Professionals of America Board of Trustees. Ms. Woerndel passed away on January 20, 2016. Vickie Thomas

Vickie Thomas has been recognized with the Lifetime Dedication Award. She has positively affected thousands of students and advisors not only within her home state of Texas, but across the country by committing herself to building and growing many programs, services and events. She has participated in many of the organization's milestones, including the evolution of the organization from the Office Education Association (OEA) into what is now Business Professionals of America (BPA).


• Applicants must currently be a paid State and National member of BPA
• Applicants must be a graduating senior planning to continue his/her education
• Applicants must have participated in a BPA competition (Regional, State or National)



The 2018-19 Scholarship Application and Guidelines will be posted October 1.
