Pin and T-shirt Design Contest:

Thank you for submitting your pin and t-shirt designs for this year. The winners will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference in Dallas in March. The winning t-shirt design will be used as a conference gift for all State Leadership Conference attendees. Top pin designs will be used as trading pins for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.  


Texas BPA Chapter Cares Award:

Hey, Texas BPA! Have an active chapter that does community service and other activities and want to get recognized for it? In its 3rd year of being an officer initiative, an award will be given to the chapter or individual who applies to be recognized for service to their community and chapter through the BPA Cares Program.


Texas Intern Program:

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Texas Intern Program at the State Leadership Conference. Guidelines and application information will be posted in January. We look forward to working with you.

National BPA Member Video Production

There are 14 Texas BPA scholarships. The applicant with the highest score of all the entries will receive the “Mildred Woerndel Scholarship” worth $2,500.00

1 – Mildred Woerndel - $2,500.00 scholarship
1 – Vickie Thomas - $2,000.00 scholarship
1 – $1,500.00 scholarship
4 – $1,000.00 scholarship

6 – $750.00 scholarships
3 – $500.00 scholarships

Special Mention

The above titled scholarships are named after two former teachers and pillars in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) community. Due to their dedication and contributions to the success of Texas BPA, these scholarships are named in their honor.

Mildred Woerndel - Ms. Woerndel taught at Seguin High School for 43 years and has served on the Board of Directors of Business Professionals of America - Texas Association, served as a regional advisor, as well as a school chapter advisor. She also served on the Business Professionals of America Board of Trustees. Ms. Woerndel passed away on January 20, 2016. Vickie Thomas - Ms. Thomas was an employee of Houston Independent School District for 22 years, serving as a teacher and Career Technology Education administrator. She was Business Professionals of America Texas State Advisor for ten years and is currently serving as the Assistant Director of Education at the BPA National Center.  

Due to their dedication the above scholarships are named in their honor.


Applicants must currently be a paid State and National member of BPA

Applicants must be a graduating senior planning to continue his/her education

Applicants must have participated  in a BPA competition (Regional, State or National)

100 Total Possible Points

The top 20 scores based on the above guidelines will be notified for an interview. This interview will be an additional 100 points of the total score, and scholarship monies will be awarded to the top 14 applicants.

Interview Process
Interviews will take place during the month of February 2017.
The top 16 chosen will be notified for an interview.  The actual interview will be a Virtual Interview.  Recipients will dress for success and answer set questions by the Interview Board.  Interview score will be added to application process score. 

The top 16 will qualify for the scholarship awards listed above and notified at the Awards Ceremony at the BPA State Leadership Conference.  A certificate will be issued at this time in lieu of the actual check.

Receipt of Scholarship
Recipients must follow the directions below to receive the scholarship:

·       2016 Scholarship required documentation must be post-marked by January 15, 2017 to receive scholarship.

·       2017 Scholarship required documentation must be post-marked by January 19, 2018 to receive scholarship.

·       Provide an official registration from the post-secondary school. The receipt must provide recipients complete name, address, and social security number.

·       An on-line generated registration confirmation printout will not be allowed.

·       A check will be issued and sent via certified mail by the treasurer when all requirements are met.
